Some of the things we are doing so far include:

Reduce: 
We send and encourage invoices, newsletters and communications to be sent via e-mail to help reduce the use of paper 

When making purchases we try to only purchase products with little or no packaging

We buy in bulk where possible to reduce packaging

We sell quality used books to reduce wastage (and stop them from being thrown in the bin) 

To reduce our electricity use we use a very energy efficient heat-pump to help keep our books at optimum temperature and humidity, and we also turn off all lights and equipment when they are not in use

Reuse:
We reuse packaging where possible

We offer a book-exchange service so our books can be re-used numerous times 

Most of our shop shelving and equipment is from second-hand shops

Where possible we buy re-usable, long-lasting, repairable products instead of disposable items. 

We often supply our customers with re-useable shopping bags and encourage them to bring in their own re-useable bags

Recycle:
When making product purchases we try to only purchase products that have recyclable products and packaging and/or a made from recycled products

We recycle all recyclable materials

We ask our suppliers to only send our orders with recyclable packaging

General:
No matter what we purchase we always aim to purchase the most environmentally friendly product that is available to us.

At Bookwormers we only use eco-friendly cleaning products in our bathroom, lunch room and shop (usually the Eco-Store brand).

Instead of using chemical insect repellants and sprays we use things like cinnamon quills and bay leaves in our books shelves.

All our books are lovingly cleaned and repaired to help extend their shelf lives

We use bio-degradable Kiwi Green carry bags

We also take these eco-friendly practices home with us and always encourage the people we meet to follow in our footsteps
