Hearn, Lafcadio Kwaidan - Stories & Studies of Strange T CREDIT: %%6%%100
Code: NFLHSST0209PB
In 1880 his 'Fantastics', a series of weird sketches appearing in a New Orleans paper, first attracted attention to the author for his originality and finished style. Before 1880, handicapped by partial blindness and a morbid sense of inferiority, he had lived miserably, doing odd jobs and occasional newspaper work. In 1887 his book entitled 'Some Chinese Ghosts' was published. In 1890 Hearn came to Japan, where he remained the rest of his life. Hearn called Kwaidan 'stories and studies of strange things.' There can be no question of the hair-raising stangeness of these stories. *Good condition - minor discolouration and inscription on front page*
